In the Madrid municipality of Leganés there is a low-height bridge, located on Doctor Mendiguchía Carriche Street, on which trucks are trapped for many weeks due to its low height and firefighters have to come to rescue them.

The problem is that truck drivers are guided by GPS to get from the San Nicasio neighborhood to the urban area. Drivers rely on the navigator’s instructions to follow their route, without noticing the signs that warn of the low height of the tunnel. Finally, they ended up ‘trapped’ in the tunnel, reports Telemadrid.

Faced with this situation, the Leganés council has found a solution so that the San Nicasio truck bridge stops swallowing heavy vehicles.

This year the possibility of building an underground tunnel was put on the table, but the economic cost was high. Finally, it was decided to install two gauge limiters at the two entrances to the tunnel, a much more economical solution, since its budget only amounts to 14,000 euros.

The advantage of this solution is that the neighbors will not suffer any construction work and they will also be installed in a short time, meaning they will be operational by December.
