The town of Pals, located on a hill in the Baix Empordà region, and its emblematic skyline with the Torre de les Hores, makes it beautiful to photograph from any angle, as in this case from Torrent for Photos by Readers of The vanguard.

It is a beautiful town in 360°C. Its current name derives from the Latin Palus, which means swampy area. Hence it is located on the hill, well protected, and its lands are so rich for the cultivation of its famous rice.

The Torre de les Hores is located in the highest part of the old town of Pals, which is why it stands out in its skyline, as this perspective shows.

Its structure has a circular plan, with a diameter of 7 meters and a height of 15. Its origin is associated with the Pals castle, of which we find the first documentary reference in the 9th century. Later, during the 12th century, its main tower was built, the current Torre de les Hores.

In the 15th century the castle suffered serious damage. The only element that survived was the Torre de les Hores, essential for its lookout functions. The current bell tower at the top of the tower was added in the 15th century.
