This Sunday, Salvados dedicated its latest installment to women’s football with one of its greatest representatives, Aitana Bonmatí, a player for the Spanish team, considered the best player in the World Cup and nominated for the Ballon d’Or. However, during the talk between Gonzo and the athlete multiple issues arose. One of them, specifically, referred to Luis Rubiales.

In fact, Bonmatí hesitated whether or not to answer the question raised by the journalist about the former president of the RFEF. Finally, he didn’t say anything, but his reaction made the soccer player’s position clear and for the presenter it was enough. Sometimes gestures say more than words…

Aitana Bonmatí spoke loud and clear in Salvados. Not only did she talk about her beginnings in football, where she suffered machismo from the parents of her teammates and rivals, but also about her speech at the UEFA gala when she received the award for best player in Europe, from the group of ‘ The 15’ or the Rubiales case.

At the last UEFA gala, Bonmatí, who was named best player of the year in Europe, sent a powerful message against abuses of power in the work environment in clear allusion to the Rubiales case. “I hadn’t seen it again. I’m embarrassed to hear or see myself repeated,” the player acknowledged.

On the other hand, the soccer player also spoke about the group known as ‘Las 15’, which gave up going to the National Team. Her decision meant a veritable media tsunami in which Bonmatí was immersed. “It was a difficult time for us, we were not having a good time in the National Team at that time,” she explained.

However, when Gonzo wanted to know her opinion about Luis Rubiales’ kiss with Jennifer Hermoso, she made it clear: “I don’t want to say anything that could affect Jenni in this case.” And the presenter didn’t take it from there. The only thing he said regarding this issue is that he regretted with “anger” that that moment had “covered up” his historic victory.

The culmination of his statements came at the end of the program. Here Gonzo directly asked Aitana Bonmatí for an assumption: “Do you think that, today, Luis Rubiales would have preferred you not to win the World Cup?”

Bonmatí’s reaction was one of genuine surprise, although his silence left little room for doubt. “Holy shit… And do I have to answer it?” the player asked, smiling. A lapidary ending that reveals the footballer’s true opinion.
