The Superior Prosecutor of Catalonia will appeal to the Supreme Court the sentence that acquits the Minister of Business, Roger Torrent, and the pro-sovereignty members of the Table -Josep Costa, Eusebi Campdepadrós and Adriana Delgado- who presided in Parliament, who were accused of disobedience to the Constitutional Court.
As reported by the public ministry, the Prosecutor’s Office has announced to the civil and criminal chamber of the TSJC its intention to appeal the acquittal, for which it will use, among other arguments, the court’s refusal to suspend the trial pending the resolve the recusal of magistrate Carlos Ramos.
Last week, the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) acquitted by a majority of the current minister and the rest of the pro-independence members of the former Table of Parliament, for the processing of resolutions on self-determination and the monarchy. The judgment of the TSJC had a particular vote of the magistrate Marta Pesqueira.
The Prosecutor’s Office had requested a sentence of 20 months of disqualification and a 30,000-euro fine for having processed these resolutions and allowing them to reach the plenary session, and thus not heeding the warnings of the Constitutional Court (TC).
