The Prosecutor’s Office of the National Court has opened pre-trial criminal investigation proceedings following a complaint from the PSOE for the events that occurred during the rally on December 31, 2013 on Ferraz Street in Madrid when a doll with the face of the president of the PSOE was appealed. Government, Pedro Sánchez.

This has been resolved after receiving a letter from the Technical Secretariat of the State Attorney General’s Office with the complaint presented by the socialists on January 5.

In the complaint, mention is made of the circumstances related to the calling and organization of the meeting, the events that occurred between ten o’clock at night on December 31 and one minute past twelve on January 1, just after the bells struck. for the turn of the year in the vicinity of the main headquarters of that political party.

During those hours, a rally took place during which a doll identified with the President of the Government was hung and repeatedly hit while various expressions that could constitute a crime were uttered.

Given this complaint, the Prosecutor’s Office has opened proceedings to analyze whether the reported events could constitute a crime and whether the National Court would be the competent body to investigate it. If so, a complaint would be filed recounting the facts to prosecute it.

In its complaint, the PSOE asked the Public Ministry to initiate the necessary procedures to find out if there were crimes of insults against the authority in office, as well as insults and “serious threats” to the Government and to Sánchez himself.

He also believes that there is a hate crime and considers that “provocation could be pursued as incitement to violence” against the head of the Executive and “the group that represents the PSOE.” Furthermore, he estimates that there may be a crime of unlawful assembly or demonstration.

The socialists highlight that on December 31, the protesters “hanged” a human-sized doll that they identified with the President of the Government, something that was broadcast by several media outlets, and also includes acts of vandalism against numerous headquarters throughout Spain during The last weeks.

Likewise, the complaint warns of the possible relationship between the organizers of the protest and Santiago Abascal’s party and establishes a link between the acts and the statements of the Vox leader, in which he said that “there will be a moment in which “the people want to hang Sánchez by his feet.”
