The PP sees its request for Sánchez's appearance truncated to explain the pacts with Junts

This Wednesday, the Permanent Deputation of Congress has once again staged the isolation of the Popular Party in the Lower House. As happened with the vote for Alberto Núñez Feijóo to be elected president of the Government, the majority that allowed the investiture of Pedro Sánchez has rejected, one after another, the six requests for an emergency appearance raised by the PP and that only Vox has supported. Four of them to the President of the Government to the Ministers of Justice, Interior and Economy to clarify “the latest agreements reached by the Government with Junts.” And another two addressed to the heads of Foreign Affairs and Defense to “clarify the Government’s plans” regarding Spanish participation in the military operation deployed in the Red Sea. All this in a month of January in which, in just two weeks, all the ministers have appeared – or will appear – in the respective commissions of the branch.

The PP’s theses have been presented in the first instance by deputy Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, who has set the harsh tone of the session from the first minute, accusing the Government of being “complicit with the seditious:” Since yesterday there have been two types of terrorism, the one that violates human rights and the one that guarantees you seven votes to continue in La Moncloa,” denounced the popular parliamentarian, who has also recommended to Junts not to trust the commitments of the head of the Executive.

Criticizing the parliamentary “baroqueism” that involves “requesting a debate to debate other debates that have already been held, or are going to be held next week”, the representatives of BNG, PNV, Bildu, ERC have refused to “enter into the dynamics of the fight” raised, among others, by the representative Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo. And using a single turn of speech that they extended to all the appearances proposed, they admonished the popular parliamentary group for repeatedly issuing the amnesty to “tease and confront” the citizens.

Only PSOE and Sumar, the two members of the coalition government, have stopped to detail their rejection of each of the PP initiatives. Although the arguments have not been far from those of their partners criticizing the PP for refusing to travel down the “path of coexistence” in Spain.

Communion within the Government has been maintained even in immigration policy, although in this section some differences have been sensed. The warning shot was carried out by confederal deputy Íñigo Errejón, who emphasized that the canceled hot returns of unaccompanied minors in 2021, declared illegal by the Supreme Court, were a “horror” and a “mistake.” that cannot be repeated. “Migrating is not a crime, migrating is a human normality that has always been done throughout history. Obviously it must be regulated like all social relations, but it cannot be done against migrants, it cannot be done against the most weak. So yes, it is true there are differences (with the PSOE) and we do not hide them,” he concluded.
