Yesterday Palamós received the first of the 52 cruise ships that will dock this year in this port of Baix Empordà. The ship, from Marseille, set sail last night for Barcelona with 900 passengers on board, mainly North Americans, Canadians and Australians.
With the arrival of this cruise ship, flying the Norwegian flag, cruise activity officially begins on the Costa Brava, where 61 stops are planned between Palamós and Roses, 15% more than a year ago, and nearly 53,000 passengers, a slightly higher figure compared to the last campaign, which closed with 52,300 tourists.
Palamós will concentrate 85% of the activity. Until November 24, the municipality will receive 52 stops, 6% more than a year ago and a similar number of tourists, around 51,000, a thousand less than in 2023.
57% of the ships will arrive in the low season and this year four ships will dock for the first time in this port on the Costa Brava. This is the case of the Viking Saturn that yesterday kicked off the season.

In Roses the season will start on May 1 and 9 stops are planned with about 2,000 cruise passengers. It is estimated that each tourist who disembarks spends an average of 90 euros. The estimated economic impact for the destination is around 5.1 million euros, according to a study by the Cruise Lines International Association.
