With the completion of the renovation works at the Santiago Bernabéu, not only will the world of football and entertainment have a new stage, but it has also been announced that the stadium will also have its own brewery. This new project seeks to directly provide the beverage that is sold inside the venue during soccer matches and the different events that take place there.
The management of this microbrewery and its production will be in charge of the Mahou San Miguel group. In an interview with Expansión, Alberto Rodríguez-Toquero, general director of the company, assured that this project “is a dream come true.” Likewise, he explained that this space will have a “very visible” location, probably near the Honor Box of the stadium, in the Padre Damián area.
The factory will produce the beer directly inside the stadium, and although the exact dates of its inauguration are not yet known, Rodríguez-Toquero assures that “it will open shortly and will be a unique space”, as it sets a precedent at the regional level. : “I don’t know how many soccer fields in Europe have a microbrewery inside,” the businessman explained.
This new project seeks to enable the Madrid beer brand to “link more with Madrid and Real Madrid. It is a relationship that goes back a long way and the project suited us from minute one,” explains Rodríguez-Toquero. In addition, the space dedicated to the sale of beer will also have a food offer during the events.
The venue’s renovation project seeks to make the Bernabéu go beyond football. In the words of Florentino Pérez himself, they seek to make it “the largest leisure and entertainment center in Europe.” With this, the stadium is expected to generate around 400 million euros annually.
