A meeting between sky and sea. The photographs we see in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos capture the essence of the mouth of the Besòs, where an overcast sky is reflected in the waters of the Mediterranean, creating a melancholic and at the same time serene atmosphere.

The Three Chimneys, vestiges of an industrial past, stand as guardians of this unique space. A natural space of great value.

Despite its small size, the mouth of the Besòs is home to great biological wealth. Observing from the viewpoints of the Parque del Litoral, the Parque de la Paz or the Maristany Bridge allows us to appreciate the variety of birds that inhabit or visit this place.

More than 200 species of birds have been observed at the mouth, including passerines, waterfowl and migratory birds.

The riverside vegetation, dune plants and surrounding urban parks offer them shelter, food and places to nest.

The Three Chimneys, 200 meters high, are a reminder of the area’s industrial past. Built between 1971 and 1976, they belonged to the Sant Adrià de Besòs Thermal Power Plant and were in operation until 2011. Today, these concrete structures have become an iconic symbol of the urban landscape.

The mouth of the Besòs is a place for contemplation and enjoyment and connection with nature. It is important to protect this space and guarantee its conservation for future generations. It is a natural treasure that we must care for and appreciate.
