It was a long-awaited interview and it did not disappoint. The tension was palpable in the environment in the early stages of the conversation between Ana Rosa Quintana and the Prime Minister and Socialist candidate, Pedro Sánchez.

Quintana began the interview with a taunt to Sánchez: “You have more gray hair and I’m blonde.” And the tension has not ended there. “It has been said outrageously that I am a filoetarra”, “it has been said that I am obsessed with Falcon, a coup plotter” or “sanchismo is a bubble that has been inflating with manipulation, evil and lies” are some phrases that Sánchez has pronounced in the tense first minutes of his conversation with Ana Rosa Quintana.

During the interview, the tension between the two protagonists has become increasingly palpable. Mutual reproaches and accusations have set the tone of the meeting. The visibly upset journalist has regretted the insults she has received over the years and has mentioned the degrading terms she had directed at her. “If I told you what they said about me: racist, xenophobic, fascist…”, the presenter replied. “True, but you have a set to defend yourself,” said Sánchez. “And you have had it when you wanted,” Quintana concluded.

Another sticking point has arisen when Sánchez has expressed his disgust for what he has considered an excess of right-wing voices in the media. The journalist, surprised, highlighted that the PSOE leader had stated that the disproportion reached 90%. Incredulous at the mentioned figure, Quintana has exclaimed her surprise and skepticism. Sánchez, without hesitating, has maintained her position and has even insinuated that perhaps he was underestimating reality.

The tense and confrontational atmosphere in the interview has left no doubt about the difficulty of finding common ground. The exchange of words has made it clear that both Sánchez and Quintana carried their own deep-rooted convictions with them, ready to defend them without hesitation.
