The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested a man accused of robbing 51 tourist apartments in the Sant Martí and Eixample districts of Barcelona, ??some of which he looted up to three and four times.

As reported by the Catalan police in a note, the alleged thief, who wore surgical masks, caps or sunglasses to make it difficult to identify him, accessed the apartments with keys, X-rays or other objects with which he pried the door of the property. .

Once inside, he took computers, cameras, jewelry, cash, suitcases and backpacks, with which he obtained loot valued at nearly 250,000 euros. Specifically, the alleged thief, who was arrested last Wednesday, perpetrated 26 robberies in tourist apartments in the Barcelona district of Sant Martí and another 25 in the Eixample, taking advantage of the fact that the guests were out visiting the city.

The detainee used to enter tourist apartment buildings, pretending to be one more traveler, and once he ransacked the property, he took the loot in suitcases or bags that he found in the place. In the robberies, he had an accomplice with whom he communicated by mobile phone and who would notify him if someone entered the tourist apartment building. In the search of his home, the detainee found 43 indications related to the robberies perpetrated.
