The Court of Valencia has sentenced the man who murdered his girlfriend in his home, located at the capital of this province.

The Chamber of the Second Section establishes the payment of compensation of 77,777 euros for the mother of the deceased and 22,222 euros for her sister for moral damages.

The sentence, handed down after a popular jury issued a guilty verdict, does not appreciate the mitigation of blindness, as requested by the defense of the convicted person, since the members of the jury did not consider the facts required for their concurrence to be proven.

In his sentence, the President of the Court also ruled out the mitigation of confession because, according to the jury’s criteria, “the defendant did not confess the facts at the moment in which said confession could be relevant (…) and could avoid anguish or uncertainty of the victim’s next of kin.” Thus, “when he admitted the facts, he did so with the idea of being able to obtain some benefit”, he specifies.

According to the story that the People’s Court considered proven in its verdict, the convicted man and the victim had been in a romantic relationship without cohabitation since September 2021, in which she occasionally spent the night at his house.

In the early morning of December 3 of that year, the man, who thought that the victim would leave him because he was not too good for her, decided that his girlfriend had to die if she did not want to be with him. Thus, he attacked her when she was sleeping and hit her hard on her head and face with a stone.

The young woman was stunned as a result of the beatings, which the prisoner took advantage of to later stab her multiple times with two knives and scissors in a “ruthless, cruel and inhumane” manner, with the intention of, in addition to killing her, causing her unnecessary suffering. .

He then suffocated her with a dressing gown belt which he placed around her neck to ensure her death. The woman bled to death from stab wounds and suffocated by understanding her belt.

The sentence is not final and an appeal can be filed against it before the Civil and Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community.
