The popular jury in charge of deciding the guilt of José Luis Abet, accused of murdering his ex-wife Sandra Boquete, his ex-sister-in-law Alba and his ex-mother-in-law María Elena in Valga (Pontevedra) in 2019, has unanimously considered that the defendant He is guilty of the murders.

In the reading of the verdict this Tuesday night at the Provincial Court after six hours of deliberation, the citizen court has considered that he intentionally killed the three women and its members have also seen clear responsibility of the defendant in the mental injuries to the two children of the extinct couple, who witnessed the massacre; and in the illegal possession of weapons.

Therefore, they also find him guilty, and equally by acquiescence, of those crimes.

This entire trial has been held behind closed doors to protect the mental integrity of the two minors, who witnessed the crimes committed with a Ruger brand revolver when they were just 7 and 4 years old.

Abet, after invoking his right not to testify at the oral hearing, did use the last word, in the final session, to ask for forgiveness for the first time.

The verdict obtained in record time now clears the door for a reviewable permanent prison sentence, the maximum custodial sentence included in the Penal Code and which is the one demanded by the public, popular, private accusations and in the same way the Xunta, also person

Abet, as has been exposed in the courtroom, went on September 16, 2019 to the home where his ex-wife lived with their two children, in Cordeiro (Valga), after having previously acquired a revolver with the identification number erased and a box full of ammunition.

When the victim was about to take the children to school, her ex-husband blocked the exit from the garage with his car and fired four shots through the window, one in the face, two in the neck and a fourth in the chest. All this in the presence of their children.

After killing his ex-wife, the confessed perpetrator of the crime – he gave himself away at the time – got into the car and left but, when he came across the car in which his ex-sister-in-law and ex-mother-in-law arrived, who had received a call help from the victim, turned around and followed them to the house.

Upon arrival, the defendant reloaded the revolver and surprised the two women as they tried to help Sandra, shooting seven times at them -in the head and chest- and killing them on the spot.
