The judge investigating the complaint against Begoña Gómez denounces “unusual” visits by the prosecutor to his court

Judge Juan Carlos Peinado, who is investigating the complaint against Begoña Gómez for alleged crimes of corruption in business and influence peddling, has requested a report on the “frequent and unusual” visits that the prosecutor in charge of the case is making to his court to have “immediate knowledge” of the resolutions that have been issued—or may be issued—.

According to legal sources, the magistrate has also questioned the “unusual” procedural attitude of the prosecutor dealing with the matter. Peinado is surprised by how “singular” it was that the representative of the Public Ministry “almost automatically” appealed the opening of the case. Something that, in his opinion, “totally unusual.” Also that the prosecutor wants to know the resolutions that are issued, “even before being notified.”

This requested report is part of a series of proceedings, among which is also the request to the National Police to send it a copy of the DNI of the wife of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, whom he mentions in an order as “ investigated.” However, sources from the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid specify that Begoña Gómez does not have the status of being investigated, nor has she been called to testify. According to Judge Peinado, this request to the National Police is made “in light of the status of the proceedings.”
