The investigation commission in the Balearic Parliament on the purchase of medical supplies in a pandemic has called off the session in which the appearance of Koldo García Izaguirre was scheduled, as the person appearing in the Balearic Chamber did not appear.
The Parliament had summoned the former advisor of former minister José Luis Ábalos at 9:00 a.m., but Koldo García had not confirmed his attendance; He had not ruled it out either, nor had he given a response of any kind to the Autonomous Chamber.
The commission has given a few minutes of margin waiting for a possible late arrival that has not occurred, so the session has been called off. The Parliament will summon García again for another date that has yet to be finalized.
García already appeared in the Senate commission and there he took advantage of his right not to testify because he was under investigation by the National Court; It was foreseeable that in Palma he would also rely on that right, as did the also investigated Víctor de Aldama. In any case, García was obliged to appear before the commission, which does not allow appearances by videoconference.
In fact, the commission has already rescheduled two other appearances of those investigated in the Koldo case, Daniel Sierra and Íñigo Rotaeche. Through a lawyer, the latter indicated, on the day of the appearance, that he had not received any summons and that he had found out from the press.
This Friday, the deputies will meet again at 11:00 a.m. to approve the latest modifications to the work calendar proposed by PP and Vox.
The meeting will begin with a minute of silence for the victims of the collapse in Playa de Palma. Ábalos is scheduled to appear at 11:30 a.m., and he has confirmed his attendance. However, in the Senate he already announced that he knows “nothing” about the contract with IbSalut.
