I have captured this photograph for La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos on the outskirts of Monistrol de Montserrat, in the Bages region, on the same mountain wall, next to the C-55 highway. Title of the image: The mountain looks at us or The look of the earth.
As can be seen in the snapshot, it is as if the mountain was shown to us as a face, with its two eyes and nose clearly marked.
This phenomenon, of perceiving a recognizable shape and giving it an interpretation in other objects, such as a face, is called pareidolia.
Surely we have identified the face of someone we know in the nature of a bush, or perhaps that of a heart in the random shapes of a cloud, or perhaps a simple face in the geometry that makes up a door between two windows.
It is a common psychological phenomenon that not only occurs in rocks, but we can also find it in any element that is around us.
