The Zurich Marató de Barcelona is the race that makes the greatest contribution to the city’s economy, driven by the indirect impact generated by its visibility and media dissemination. It is estimated that the economic impact of the event was 37.5 million in 2023 when a total of 15,000 participants registered. For this year’s edition, which will be held tomorrow, it is expected to far exceed this figure, since the number of bibs distributed has been 20,000, reaching the third highest participation in history. Added to this is the fact that the record for international presence has been broken. 57% of the participants are foreigners, specifically from 107 countries, with France and the United Kingdom as the two main focuses. It must be taken into account that foreign athletes are accompanied by 2.5 people on average, spend the night for four days on average and spend around 156 euros per day. Everyone will try to travel the 42.1 km blue line (150 kilos of paint of this color) to reach the goal.
