The coalition government of PSOE and Sumar offered Irene Montero “an embassy” as a political solution after the veto that was applied to her to continue as head of the Ministry of Equality.

To the surprise of everyone present, Ione Belarra revealed this “secret” during the official presentation of Podemos’ candidacy for the next European elections, whose list will be headed by Montero herself.

The offer, which various sources specify in the Spanish embassy in Chile, would have been made to Montero in the context of the formation of the Government. A proposal that Belarra understands as a movement to “remove Montero from politics, and from Spain, to stop causing problems.”

“They offered me a political solution for Irene, an embassy. When they proposed it to me, I started to cry. Because it made me very angry because what Irene represents in this country is very important and necessary,” Belarra pointed out to explain. the Executive’s attempt to silence both the former Minister of Equality and Podemos’s management of a ministry now in the hands of the PSOE.

The general secretary of Podemos has valued the response given by Montero to such an offer and has framed it in the commitment of the purple party: “It would have been very easy to step aside and look for a political solution, but he has taken a step forward” (…) “in Spain we are faced with a truly transformative left that wants to fight and have difficult debates,” he stated during the presentation of the European training project.
