The RFEF has convened this Sunday an “extraordinary and urgent” meeting of the Committee of Presidents of Autonomous and Territorial Federations after the provisional suspension by FIFA of Luis Rubiales.
According to a statement released by the Federation, the current president of the institution, Pedro Rocha, has called this extraordinary meeting to be held tomorrow, Monday, at the official headquarters of the Federation in Las Rozas (Madrid) at 4:00 p.m.
“Following the instructions of Mr. Pedro Rocha, and in accordance with the provisions of the Statutes, the call for an extraordinary and urgent meeting of the Commission of Presidents of Autonomous and Territorial Federations is communicated,” the RFEF itself reported through a press circular.
In the same statement, the Federation explains that the points to be discussed at this extraordinary meeting will include “analyzing and evaluating the current situation” and thus being able to make the pertinent decisions on how to proceed.
After Rubiales refused to resign after the controversy over the kiss without consent to soccer player Jenni Hermoso, FIFA was forced to take action on the matter and announced his provisional suspension. In accordance with the RFEF Statutes, the Vice President attached to the Presidency, Pedro Rocha Junco, has assumed the interim presidency during the period of the suspension that lasts 90 days.
