The mayor of València, María José Catalá, presented this Tuesday a new initiative to digitalize the use of public transport. It is MovimEMT, a new title always available on the mobile phone to travel on municipal buses at the best possible price and even free for which the council is looking for users willing to participate, as a testing process for this new card begins.

All interested people can register starting this Tuesday to participate in the pilot experience of the virtual bonus launched by the EMT. Within a week, the municipal company will select, from all those registered and randomly, through the Easypromos application, a total of 50 people to participate in this new type of travel. All of them will be charged, on behalf of EMT, a total of 17.5 virtual euros so that they can travel without limit throughout the city with MovimEMT and their mobile phone.

In this way, the EMT wants to test the complete operation of the new virtual Voucher, the dynamics of access to the wallet, the response of the validators and any unforeseen event that may arise at the time of accessing the bus to solve it immediately. Thus, all people who want to participate in the pilot tests can register now through the emtvalencia.info page. The testing process will last 15 days, from February 14 to 29.

“We want the sustainable transport of the EMT to be a leader and a reference for everyone, and we are going to continue working along the same lines so that mobility in Valencia always has the best alternatives, the most advanced and those that can make their lives much better. easy for our citizens and the people who visit us,” declared Catalá, who stressed that the proposal is entirely part of the new municipal government and that, therefore, it is not an inherited project.

From the PSPV they ask Catalá not to “forget the metropolitan view” because this is “the transportation of the future.” The socialist councilor María Pérez recalled that digitalization “is always a good idea” and that is why the previous government already launched a card to allow digital payment, recalling that it was a project that had European financing that was awarded in May 2023.

To access this new way of moving around the city of Valencia, users must open the EMTicket application, select the new MovimEMT virtual card and register via email. After loading the virtual wallet with the amount that each person considers appropriate, it is now possible to travel without worries; without carrying the physical card and without calculations or waiting times for recharging, just with the mobile phone and the QR code of the virtual ticket.

With MovimEMT, each validation on municipal buses will cost the price of a bus ticket, that is, 0.43 cents, with one hour of unlimited transfers. But, in addition, in the same month, when 17.5 euros are consumed from the virtual wallet, all additional trips will be free. That is, within the same month, a total of 41 validations can be carried out at the best possible price, and then it will be possible to travel unlimitedly throughout the network for free. You will only have to be attentive to the occasional top-up of the virtual wallet with a minimum of 5 euros and a maximum of 60. “For example, people who make a couple of trips on weekdays during the month, trips on weekends They will be free,” the mayor pointed out.

The presentation event has also served to take stock of the modifications to the EMT routes that the City Council activated on December 12. The council points out that lines 4, C1, 11, 16, 26, 31, 32 and 70 continue to grow in users above the increase in the rest of the network. Until February 4, they have transported, between them, a total of 2,512,303 passengers.

In the eight weeks between December 13, 2022 and February 5, 2023, the council notes that these lines transported 2,070,539 passengers. That is, with the remodeling in the center, the eight lines have grown by 21.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, with 441,764 more passengers.
