Civilian casualties in Ukraine are the bitterest reality of the conflict, with more than 3,000 Ukrainians already losing their lives in the invasion. This reality is even more present in the corridors of hospitals in large urban centers. In its rooms, the thousands of wounded, some of them minors, who are the most expensive toll of this military clash, recover from their wounds and mutilations.
The fighting is now focused on places where civilian lives are less compromised than in the first phase of the war. However, the shadow of the bombing and the fear of another Russian advance makes the feeling that even in hospitals they are not safe even more intense. Many seek a speedy recovery so they can leave the country as soon as possible, although, like most of their compatriots, they have nowhere to go.
