In June, the Regional Council approved the project to build a new water tank in the Conca de Barberà that will be operational by the end of 2024. This tank will receive water from the Tarragona Water Consortium (CAT) network.

The new instructor will have a capacity of 1,500 cubic meters divided into two vessels. The first phase of the works is expected to be tendered during the last quarter of 2023 and the action also includes the construction of the water supply branch for the Forès municipal reservoir.

The project will be financed by the Catalan Water Agency, the Tarragona Provincial Council and the beneficiary municipalities. For the subsequent phases, the construction of the supply branch to Santa Coloma de Queralt is planned, passing through the municipality of Conesa, which will also serve for the construction of the branches for the Belltall, Savallà del Comtat and Las Piles nuclei, included in the third phase of the intervention.

The municipalities of Conesa, Forès, Llorac, Passanant and Belltall, les Piles, Santa Coloma de Queralt, Sarral and Savallà del Comtat will have water through the connection to the CAT network. From the regional body they point out that these municipalities have a “historic deficit in the quantity and quality of the water” they supply. With the execution of the supply project, this “adequate resource” will be available.
