The Fuerteventura Civil Guard is investigating a 23-year-old young man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of animal abuse after locating the bodies of his three tied and mummified dogs in the town of Tuineje.

As reported this Wednesday by the Benemérita in a statement collected by the Efe agency, the dogs would have died due to severe dehydration, chained, and due to omission of due care from their owner, a circumstance that was aggravated by the high temperatures reached in the months of July and August.

Seprona learned of the events through an anonymous call that reported the possible mistreatment of several dogs in the town of Tuineje, although it did not specify what they involved. Members of this service from Puerto del Rosario went to the place and discovered that inside a facility used as a kennel there were three mummified corpses of dogs, tied by chains.

The Penal Code punishes this type of crime with prison sentences of 12 to 24 months, in addition to special disqualification of two to four years for the exercise of a profession, trade or trade that has to do with animals, as well as for possession of animals. animals, recalls the Civil Guard in the note.
