The car that fines vehicles stopped in the bus lane in Barcelona will begin to fine from tomorrow. The vehicle, presented publicly on March 4, has detected 60 violations per day on average during the two months that it has been circulating in testing phases, sources from Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) reported today.
Both private vehicles and those that load and unload and park or stop in the bus lane will be subject to financial penalties. The car complements the work of the Guàrdia Urbana, which already fines for this reason.
If the vehicle, which will be marked white and red, detects an infraction, it will take the photograph and send it to the Municipal Treasury Institute, the body in charge of managing the corresponding sanction. The fines will range between 60 and 200 euros, depending on the case.
In parallel, during the first days a team of informants will be launched to notify drivers of the new measure. This initiative is part of the Endreça municipal plan with the objective of “improving the commercial speed of the bus and road safety,” say municipal sources.
