The Aemet warns of a drastic change: rains and drop in temperatures

Spain finally says goodbye to the anomalous October heat. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts for this Friday the entry into the peninsula of an Atlantic front from Galicia, which will leave cloudy or overcast skies in that community and western Asturias, with moderate rainfall occasionally accompanied by storms, which may be locally strong and persistent in western Galicia.

In the rest of the Cantabrian area and northern plateau there will be a progressive increase in cloudiness and precipitation will be probable, which cannot be ruled out also extending, in a weaker and more dispersed way, to the western Pyrenees, areas of the southern plateau and the highlands. Ebro.

The temperatures will (finally) give a break. According to the Aemet forecast, daylight hours will decrease in the western half of the peninsula. This decrease will be locally notable in Galicia and the western end of both plateaus.

However, the exception will once again be in the Mediterranean area, where temperatures will be around 30 degrees. Temperatures above 33-35 degrees are also expected in the south of the Canary Islands, where classes have been suspended until Monday due to the intense heat. Night temperatures will rise in the Cantabrian area, upper Ebro and northern plateau.

The drop in temperatures will be more pronounced during the weekend. On Saturday, the Atlantic front will sweep the eastern half of the peninsula, Andalusia and the Balearic archipelago, with cloudy skies in its path in these areas, and with precipitation, generally weak, in the south, center and interior of the peninsula. The rainfall may extend to some Mediterranean coastal points such as Catalonia.

For Sunday, rains will be practically widespread in the northwest half of the peninsula, more abundant in the Central system and Galicia, and may even become persistent in its extreme west. Temperatures will drop practically across the board, even notably in areas of the north of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with the exception of inland areas of the southeast of the peninsula where they will rise.
