The Almàssera City Council has reported this morning the death of its neighbor Dona Josefina Roa, who was attacked by a bull that escaped from the bous festivities in the street of the neighboring town of Tavernes Blanques.

As this newspaper explained, the woman was in “critical condition” after being hit by a heifer that had come to this municipality from the neighboring town of Tavernes Blanques after breaking the barrier of the enclosure where a bullfighting festival was held.

The animal, after going through a street that connects Tavernes Blanques with Almàssera, began to tour the town until it hit a 74-year-old woman.

Josefina was transferred to the Hospital Clínico de Valencia and died ten days later. The Almàssera City Council has declared official mourning in the town from 12:00 a.m. on July 26, 2023, until 11:59 p.m. on July 27. During this period the external flags of the municipal buildings will fly at half mast. In addition, this noon a minute of silence has been called at 12 o’clock at the door of the Town Hall.
