Like a gray sheet with its wrinkles and slight colors due to the first light of the sun. This is how the sky was this morning in Vic, in the Osona region, portrayed for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.
These undulatus asperatus clouds have left a spectacular sky, like a floating sea with its waves. Actually, this rare cloud formation has been recognized rather recently. The name translates as rough or choppy waves.
Margaret LeMone, a cloud expert at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, took photos of asperatus clouds for 30 years and was one of the driving forces behind their recognition.
The clouds most closely related to the new clouds are the undulatus clouds. And although they appear dark and stormy, they tend to dissipate without causing storms.
They were low wavy clouds that look detailed in the photograph and are more spectacular in the motion-accelerated video. We can see it below:
