The 37-year-old woman who was admitted to the Gregorio Marañón hospital in Madrid last Saturday after being strangled by her partner, a 42-year-old Army captain, died this Monday, as confirmed by sources at the health center.

As La Vanguardia has learned, the woman, a nurse, had never reported her partner, from whom she was separating. With this there are now 54 victims of gender violence in 2023.

The woman was admitted in a very serious condition due to being without air for a long time after being strangled by her partner. Apparently, and according to some media reports, it all started when one of her three-year-old daughters had urinated on her.

The events took place on November 25, Day against Gender Violence, shortly after 7 p.m. in a house at number 7 Colonia Erillas Street, in the Nueva Numancia area. The agents also found the couple’s two children, ages 2 and 3, in the home, who told the agents that their father had hit their mother and yelled at her. The minors were cared for by Summa psychologists and then their maternal grandparents, who live nearby, took care of them.

The arrested man’s name is Antonio, he is 42 years old, he is Spanish and a military man by profession. He was taken to the Family and Women Care Unit (UFAM) of the Madrid Police Headquarters, which is investigating the case as an attempted homicide.
