Texas Tech travels to Oregon for 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore— The Texas Tech Red Raiders are gearing up to showcase their skills at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships held at Hayward Field. The men’s team is set to compete on Wednesday and Friday, while the women’s team will take the stage on Thursday and Saturday. With high hopes and determination, the Red Raiders are aiming to secure the top position in the championships, a feat they haven’t achieved since 2019.

This year, all eyes are on Trey Wilson III, the standout freshman in the shot put competition. Wilson has been making waves, clinching the top rank in the event. At the recent NCAA West meet, Wilson impressed by delivering a massive throw of 19.64 meters on his first attempt, setting a new personal best. This remarkable throw also stands as the second-best mark in Texas Tech history.

Joining Wilson is pole vaulter Sean Gribble, who managed to secure tenth place with a personal best clearance of 5.32 meters. The team will also witness the prowess of runner Ernest Cheruiyot, who finished fourth in the 10k event with an impressive time of 28:35.03.
