Telefónica has partnered with Starlink, a company owned by Elon Musk that provides broadband internet worldwide with low Earth orbit satellites, to bring its connection for companies to several countries. The operation is already underway in Mexico and throughout the year it will be gradually extended to Peru, Colombia, Chile, Brazil and Spain, as reported by the company in a statement.

The alliance will allow Telefónica to complement its current offer with Starlink’s business solutions, launched in early 2023 with enhanced features. This will enable the delivery of high-speed, low-latency broadband internet that allows it to be used in ways that have not previously been possible with satellite internet.

The agreement also seeks to use a dedicated terminal with greater range and performance, to have more availability in adverse weather conditions and download speeds of up to 300-350 Mbps. Among the possible applications, the use in vehicle mobility and data management in companies stand out.

The CEO of Telefónica Global Solutions, Julio Beamonte, explained that the company has been offering value-added satellite solutions for many years and that with this alliance they will offer new generation solutions to their customers, working “hand in hand” with Starlink.
