At work, at home, through the mail… The stalker of the protagonist of the successful Netflix series, My Stuffed Reindeer, follows him everywhere. The journalist Espartac Peran experienced a similar situation a few years ago and explained it for the first time in Versió RAC1.
At that time, he was working on the program Divendres, on TV3, where Peran made connections throughout Catalonia. One day, one of the people who approached him was that girl: “It started as a story of professional admiration and became an obsession.”
The girl began to follow all the connections he made with the program, wherever he went. She was also waiting for him when she left TV3… and “things got complicated,” remembers Espartac Peran. “On the weekend, she would wait for me at the front door of the house, I would meet her at the Mataró Festival or when I was out at night with my friends,” she explains.
According to Peran, the young woman was looking for a friendship with him and not a love relationship, unlike the case recounted in the series. However, she did not accept her partner: “I despised her, I rejected her and tried to separate her from her so she could talk to me.” At that moment, the communicator decided to take action.
Fear took over Peran, who did not know what the young woman was capable of: “I was wrong.” However, she did not feel able to call the police and she spoke to those responsible for security at TV3. They investigated the girl and discovered that she had psychological problems. At that moment, “I went from fear to grief,” says the journalist.
The network’s security agents spoke to make him understand that he had to stop pursuing Peran if he didn’t want to have legal problems: “I haven’t seen her again,” he explains, relieved.
