The Girona Municipal Police and the Mossos d’Esquadra are investigating who is behind the burning of 24 containers the last two nights in various streets of the city. The flames reached four vehicles parked on public roads and two facades.

It is the second consecutive night of uncontrolled burning of containers in the city. From April 22 to 23, unknown persons set fire to six containers in front of number 38 Tomàs de Lorenzana street, located in the Eixample area of ​​Girona.

Tonight there have been eighteen garbage cans that have ended up in flames. Five have burned down in front of number 27 Bernat Boades street; another five, in front of number 10 of the same street, and four more at number 28 of Bonastruc de Porta street. It is an area close to the Devesa neighbourhood.

The burning tonight, which took place barely twenty minutes apart, has also splashed the Santa Eugènia neighborhood, where four more containers have been burned in front of number 138 Santa Eugènia street.

The fires declared this morning have affected four vehicles that were parked near the burning containers and the facade of two nearby buildings. The high temperature has affected blinds such as those in the Central de Biblioteques building of the Girona Provincial Council.
