Six puppies were intervened that were shown during yoga sessions to the attendees in a store in Barcelona so that interested people could then place their purchase orders, an illegal marketing practice.

Municipal sources reported this Tuesday that the premises, located on Meridiana Avenue, had a private collaboration agreement with an animal sales establishment that provided them with the dogs.

The operation has been carried out with technicians from the Animal Management and Protection department of Barcelona City Council with agents from the Urban Guard after a complaint filed by an animal rights organization. The authorities will initiate the corresponding sanctioning file for the irregularities detected.

The rescued puppies all had irregularities in their identification and four of them came from countries outside the European Union with manipulated passports and non-compliance with the rabies vaccination schedule.

The animals also tested positive for giardiasis, a very rapidly spreading intestinal disease that causes severe diarrhea. The puppies are currently under the guardianship of the Barcelona pet shelter.
