Authorities have reported that six Haitian delegations to the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in Florida are missing.
Their disappearance from the Kissimmee games venue, which is part of Disney World’s near Orlando property, was not suspected of foul play.
In a missing persons bulletin, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office stated that all of them had turned in their rooms keys and left behind personal bags and other belongings.
According to the sheriff’s office, the six were last seen Monday at the games’ venue around 2:30 p.m. The organizers of the games suggested that the status of six missing persons could be used to speed their safe return.
“To increase the reach and effectiveness law enforcement’s efforts in finding these individuals, they’ve been reported as missing persons,” Special Olympics organizers United States stated in a statement.
Officials from Sheriff’s said that all six were scheduled to take part in the soccer competition. Organisers stated that one of the six is an athlete, while the five other are part Haiti’s delegation.
Organizers described the athlete as having an intellectual disability.
Sheriff’s officials identified the missing as Antione Joseph Mitchell, 32; Nicholson Fontilus 20; Peter Mianovich Berlus 19; Anderson Petit-Frere 18; Steevenson Jacquet 24; and Oriol Jean 18.
