The Mossos d’Esquadra, with the collaboration of the National Police, have solved the kidnapping that once caused the mobilization of the residents of the Les Sureres de Mataró urbanization and the reaction of the security forces that increased their presence in the area, with a large number of houses occupied, also by criminals.
The agents of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos (DIC) have arrested four people in Terrassa, and Mataró, between 20 and 41 years old, who are accused of crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, injuries, robbery with violence, participation in a kidnapping in September 2023. Agents of the National Police, within the framework of the usual collaboration between police forces, made two arrests of two men aged 31 and 33 in Granada and Ceuta, respectively.
On March 20, agents of the National Police arrested a 31-year-old man, whom the Mossos d’Esquadra had identified and located in the El Príncipe neighborhood of Ceuta, and carried out an entry and search at his home, where Evidence allegedly related to the kidnapping was seized. This last detainee is also credited with material responsibility for the kidnapping.
On March 11, the first phase of the investigation took place, with two arrests in Catalonia: one in Terrassa and another in Mataró, and a third arrest in Granada, in which agents from the National Police participated. Of the three detainees, two would allegedly be collaborators in the kidnapping, while a third would be a collaborator in it. The detainees have no criminal record by the Mossos d’Esquadra for similar acts.
On September 18, 2023, a group of people kidnapped a man in El Prat de Llobregat, they took him to Mataró, where they held him captive. From the investigation it is clear that the perpetrators followed up on the victim beforehand, and decided to assault her when she was out shopping in a supermarket in El Prat de Llobregat. He was transported in his own vehicle to an occupied property in Mataró, which had previously been adapted to carry out his captivity. The occupied house in which the captivity materialized was handed over to its legitimate owner.
The victim managed to escape tied up and was located by a witness in the Les Sureres urbanization of Mataró. She had wounds on her hands, burns and blows to other areas of her body. As part of the incident, several citizen security patrols were activated and two people were arrested, allegedly related to the events.
At this point the DIC Kidnapping Unit took over the investigation, proving the direct participation of the two detained in flagrante detention and they were taken to prison. The kidnapping was related to criminal groups, and motivated by alleged debts related to the criminal world associated with international drug trafficking.
The authors are men residing in Catalonia, or in different parts of the State, who act in a network based on recruitment by other national or international groups. Those investigated are moving for committing these types of acts.
