Sergio Rico has finally come out of a coma, 25 days after being hospitalized for a head injury. The Sevillian footballer, who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), suffered a serious fall from the horse he was riding on May 28, while enjoying the El Rocío pilgrimage in Huelva.

Since his terrible accident, Rico remained in the ICU of the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital in Seville and, although his sedation was reduced just a few days ago, his condition worsened again. This same Monday, the Telecinco program Ya es mediodía confirmed the best news and, now, the sedation has been “definitely” withdrawn.

According to the information advanced by the television space, Sergio Rico has already “come out of a coma and is conscious”, although with the obvious sequelae of his intubation. He “has opened his eyes, has recognized his relatives and has communicated with them through gestures,” they continued to explain in Ya es mediodía.

Alba Silva, the footballer’s wife and his main support in these difficult days, has already reacted to the highly anticipated news. “I knew from the beginning that he was going to come out because he is a champion”, he explained before the cameras, who has admitted that “you have to be very patient” until Rico leaves this pothole behind and has thanked the toilets for their work in the improvement of the PSG player.

“Thanks to the hospital and the health personnel who are behaving incredible not only with Sergio but with all the patients,” Silva declared to the different media interested in Sergio Rico’s health, insisting that he is currently “much more animated.”

The journalist has not stopped being by her husband’s side at any time, becoming the person in charge of updating his state of health over the last few weeks. In addition, she has sent multiple messages of encouragement through her social profiles. “You never fail me, you are the bravest and strongest person I know, that’s why I know you will not give up, for us,” she wrote in one of them.
