A few months ago, the acclaimed actor Sergio Peris-Mecheta announced to his millions of fans around the world that he suffers from cancer that has made him stop his professional life and begin treatment.
To break the news, the artist published a carousel of photographs on his official Instagram account and wrote a reflection on the great luck he has had throughout his life: ”I have won and presented contests, I have worked with the greatest of the theater, I played wonderful characters, I have directed, I have created, I have told the stories I needed to tell on board my Pirate Ship. I have played a lot, and although I have lost, I have been more likely to win, in general. With a dose of luck that I have always felt at my side, accompanying me, and that feeling of undeserving on my back.”
”All this to say that in this last draw I didn’t get the usual numbers. I am in the middle of the chemo process and a subsequent bone marrow transplant. And I have to play with a different hand this time. “I am as only those who have experienced a situation similar to mine know (…) I feel more vulnerable, terrified and small than ever, and for a few months now I have been valuing each of my steps on earth,” he wrote from City Of Hope Hospital, one of the most prestigious cancer centers in the world.
After a few difficult weeks in which she has shared some small updates about her health, Peris-Mecheta has uploaded a new post to her Instagram account to announce that she is starting her third cycle of chemo.
”They say there is no 2 without 3. Today I start the third cycle. With more encouragement than I could imagine at this point. And seeing the last hill that is the transplant appear on the horizon,” the Traitors presenter wrote with hope.
In the last post, Sergio Peris-Mencheta wanted to write some very emotional lines to thank the love, support and assistance he is receiving from his friends and loved ones, but also from doctors and followers.
”Grateful to the medical team that takes care of me at City of Hope, to my family and friends for supporting me, to @antonio090574 who advises me from a distance from minute 1, to my @barcopirataorg for allowing me the passion, and to all your messages that are pure gasoline,” he wrote, visibly excited.
