Wednesday, May 8, became a very important day for actor Sergio Peris-Mencheta. Finally, since he announced a few months ago that he suffers from leukemia, he already has a date for his bone marrow transplant.
News to celebrate, after months undergoing harsh treatments; while he tries not to lose his smile, continue with his personal work and gather strength to face the challenges that lie ahead. He does it in the company of his inseparable family: his wife Marta Solaz, and his children; with whom he has moved to Los Angeles (USA) to treat his illness.
“Looks like we’ve finally reached base camp. The hardest part of the climb remains. They say that those who are transplanted, in addition to celebrating their birthday, go on to celebrate their birthday. Mine seems to be on May 28,” the actor announces, through his Instagram account, from where he has dedicated himself to making the disease visible and updating his state of health these months.
However, this good news has a bittersweet touch. The date coincides, coincidentally, with another very significant anniversary for the interpreter: the death of his father: “It so happens that that same day will be exactly 10 years since the day I said goodbye to dad.”
The actor remembers that bitter moment, as it happened that he told his father that he was leaving for work reasons for a few days, but he never saw him again.
“I’m going bowling, dad. “I’ll be back in three days.” “I never saw him again,” she remembers, sadly. “I’m sure that wherever he is, this May 28th he already has a whole arsenal of energy organized to help me and I can celebrate that birthday in his honor for many years to come.”
After his announcement, the publication has been filled with messages of support from colleagues, friends and followers who celebrate this good news, but who also send him all the strength in the world to face this new part of the process, one of the hardest. .
Colleagues like Asier Etxeandía, María Castro, Edu Soto, Víctor Clavijo or Tristán Ulloa did not want to miss the opportunity to send him a message of support. ”On the 28th you have us all sending you all our energy. Cheer up, everything is going to be fine,” Elsa Pataky tells him.
Despite the delicate situation he is going through, the actor has not put aside his professional projects and continues working as much as possible.
The actor already has a date for the long-awaited bone marrow transplant he needs, so he can be cured of the leukemia that was diagnosed months ago. “I am like only those who have experienced a situation similar to mine know,” he confessed last January, when he publicly announced his diagnosis.
Of course, he made it clear that, despite the circumstances, he was giving value to what was truly important. “I feel more vulnerable, terrified and small than ever, and for a few months now I have been valuing each of my steps on earth.”
