Russia has condemned any terrorist threat or act in relation to the sending of letters with explosive material inside to the Ukrainian Embassy in Spain and other Spanish government agencies that have become known in recent hours.

In a brief statement posted on Twitter headed by “we condemn any terrorist threat or act”, the Russian Embassy in Spain has indicated that “given the information that is appearing in the Spanish media regarding the explosive packages sent to the Embassy of Ukraine in Spain and to some official Spanish entities we declare: any threat or terrorist act, even more so directed against a diplomatic mission are totally condemnable”.

The circumstance occurs that the recipients of these shipments would be linked in some way or another with the military aid that Spain provides to Ukraine in Russia’s war against its neighboring country.

This Thursday the interception of envelopes with pyrotechnic material addressed to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, on November 24 and another today to the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, at the Ministry’s headquarters.

The chain of shipments of envelopes with explosive material became known yesterday when shortly after noon one of them exploded at the Ukrainian Embassy in Spain, causing minor injuries to a security worker from the diplomatic delegation.

The second took place at night around 9:00 p.m. when the Police carried out a controlled detonation of a similar letter received at the headquarters of Instalaza, an arms company from Zaragoza that has provided military material to Ukraine.

This morning a suspicious package was intercepted by the security systems of the Torrejón de Ardoz military base (Madrid) that was addressed to the European Union Satellite Center (Satcen), which since the Russian invasion provides Ukraine with strategic information on the conflict .

This package was detected between 3:00 and 4:00 last morning and was analyzed by X-rays. After this study, it was determined, according to Defense sources, that it could contain some type of explosive mechanism.
