Russia launched a new wave of missiles against Ukrainian cities. Specifically, it fired 23 cruise missiles (type Kh-101 and Kh-555) and two drones towards Kyiv and other parts of the country during the early hours of Friday. Ukrainian anti-missile forces shot down most of them, but two managed to hit their target: a nine-story residential building in Uman, a city 215 kilometers south of the capital, and a block of flats in Dnipro, in the center east. from the country. According to the military authority of the Cherkasy province, in which Uman is located, seven people have died in this city in the center of the country as a result of the attack, which has hit a dozen buildings and completely destroyed another block of flats. “The missile attack was launched while civilians were sleeping,” wrote the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak. Several hours after the impact, the emergency services were still working at the scene.

The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, said the missiles were fired from aircraft operating in the Caspian Sea region.

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski condemned the Russian attack: “Last night the enemy attacked Ukraine again with missiles and drones. The terrorists hit infrastructure and civilians,” Zelenski said on his Telegram account, and offered his condolences to the victims.
