The former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, went to the National Court this Friday to receive the resolution that sends him to oral trial for the alleged crimes of sexual assault and coercion of the footballer Jenni Hermoso for the non-consensual kiss .
At the door of the Court, Rubiales confirms his position and accuses Hermoso of “changing his version” of the events of the non-consensual kiss at the medal ceremony after the World Cup final in Sydney, last August.
“I stand by my statement: when the events occurred at the medal ceremony in Sydney there was a single version from both parties. After a few days, one of the parties [Jennifer Hermoso] changed her version. I will continue to maintain my version from the beginning to the end, because it is the truth. “Hoping that everything turns out well and that justice is done,” Rubiales told reporters, without accepting questions.
Rubiales appeared before the Court at 9:39 a.m. Magistrate Francisco de Jorge has notified – also the former coach Jorge Vilda, the former director of the national team Albert Luque and the former head of Marketing, Rubén Rivera – the order to open the oral trial that he issued on May 8, as well as the imposition of the respective bonds so that they can face possible civil liabilities if they are convicted.
The Prosecutor’s Office of the National Court requests that Rubiales be sentenced to two years and six months in prison: one year for a crime of sexual assault and one year and six months for a crime of coercion as the perpetrator.
It also asks the National Court to sentence Jorge Vilda, Albert Luque and Rubén Rivera to one year and six months in prison for a crime of coercion.
