David Broncano has no place on the RTVE grid. This was decided this Monday by the Board of Directors of the public entity, which has refused to contract the format of The Resistance for three years and 14 million annually. A bet with which the Content Management wanted to compete with El Hormiguero by Pablo Motos.

As council sources explain to EFE, the initial proposal put forward by the Content Directorate to contract the format presented by Broncano for three years has not been given the green light.

In addition, it has been decided to present another proposal with a duration of one year, which is usual in this type of spaces and with other types of conditions. Predictably, cheaper than the one presented by the comedian’s production company.

La Resistencia, a co-production by El Terrat with Encofrados Encofrasa, is currently broadcast on Movistar Plus, with which it has a contract until June. The proposal to sign Broncano contemplated broadcasting the program in prime time, in the same time slot as El hormiguero, by Pablo Motos, on Antena 3, which begins at 9:45 p.m.

Broncano (Santiago de Compostela, 1985) became known with monologues and later cut his teeth professionally under the guidance of Buenafuente y Compañía. From there, he became one of the national humor phenomena.

In 2018 he began presenting La Resistencia, a program that he also co-directs, and which in 2019 received the Ondas Award for best entertainment program.
