Visible crisis in the Catalan National Assembly (ANC). As reported by El Món this afternoon and La Vanguardia was able to confirm, regional secretary Mònica Batalla has resigned from her post this Thursday.
It has done so in the midst of a debate to promote a civic list in the upcoming elections in the Parliament of Catalonia, which has generated opposing positions in the entity’s National Secretariat. In fact, more resignations are not ruled out.
According to ANC sources, Mònica Batalla’s decision “is personal” and that the “entity respects”, and they have added that “the debate is intense”, which sometimes “causes wear and tear”.
Regarding the civic list, it is the star proposal approved last year by the entity’s militancy. However, this past weekend, the president of the ANC, Dolors Feliu, took the idea to the plenary session of the secretariat to create a working group to get down to work and it failed: for it to be approved, a third of the votes, but only obtained 28 supports, for 29 opinions against.
The rejection was a setback for Feliu, who on several occasions used the civic list as a battering ram against divisions and differences in the independence movement. However, the ANC still does not rule out the proposal, although, in any case, it will be the militancy that makes the final decision on the candidacy.
