Red is claimed as the color of spring, as seen in these images in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos captured in Osona and Bages.

All this is thanks to the poppy, which looks increasingly in competition with the yellow of the rapeseed and the green of the crops. Red shines like never before these days, for example, in the surroundings of Manlleu or Avinyó.

Traditionally, the poppy has been associated with agriculture since ancient times. And its life cycle adapts to most cereal crops. So much so that they flower and fruit before harvesting the crops.

The poppy is considered a weed, although it is easy to combat with the usual pest control methods. It is easy for it to grow freely, for example, on the edges of roads, where it stands out with its intense red color.

Precisely, it is this red color that makes this flower contrast with other typical spring colors, such as the yellow or white of other classic flowers, such as the daisy.
