The tension experienced outside the Parliament of Catalonia while the future of Laura Borràs as deputy was decided has had its peak with the racist insults that the protesters have uttered against the deputy of the Esquerra Republicana (ERC) Najat Driouech.
“Botiflera”, “Free Sahara”, “Shitty Blackberry” or “go back to your country”, is what the people gathered in the Parc de la Ciutadella would have said against Driouech when he left the building, according to eyewitnesses.
There were around 250 people who had started the day whistling and insulting the ERC and CUP deputies. “Neither forget nor forgive”, they yelled at them while cataloging the Catalan press as “manipulative”.
“Let the CUP come out”, they asked a little later, when it was confirmed that the Parliamentary Board approved suspending Laura Borràs as a deputy with the votes of PSC-Units, ERC and CUP after the decision of the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia of send her to trial for allegedly dividing contracts when she directed the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes.
