The Rototom festival, the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup, the El Pastoret restaurant, and the company Platos Tradicionales have been awarded the Tuawards 2023, awards sponsored by Tuawa and Global Omnium on the occasion of World Environment Day.

Chef Quique Dacosta has starred in the first edition of the Tuawards Awards, awards that today recognized the most sustainable people, companies and initiatives that stand out for their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint and water footprint.

Quique and Noa Dacosta: Drop by drop

During the event, which was attended by representatives of the catering sector, businessmen, and organizers of cultural and sporting events, Quique Dacosta presented the new Tuawa campaign co-starring with his daughter Noa, and which will start today in different formats.

As the three-time Michelin star chef has explained, “this is a fresh and direct campaign, in which a typical conversation around the table between father and daughter becomes a call to action to save the planet.” A “give it” with which to continue raising awareness and adding more people to the Tuawa movement every day.

4 sustainable categories

The awards have been given by Quique Dacosta, Dionisio García, CEO of Global Omnium, Juan Monrabal, CEO of Tuawa, and Eduardo Nogués, director of the Oceanogràfic.

The trophies, made with recycled plastic in which a drop of water is drawn for this first edition of the sustainable awards, have gone to the Rototom festival, winner of the events category; and in the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup, in the special jury prize category. In both cases, their commitment, notoriety and capacity for national and international projection have been valued as examples in the fight to reduce the carbon footprint and the water footprint.

In the HORECA category, the winner was the El Pastoret Restaurant and in the Sustainable Company category, the highest recognition went to Traditional Dishes, for having demonstrated that culinary excellence and sustainability can go hand in hand.

As Juan Monrabal, CEO of Tuawa, has indicated, “after almost two years of starting up the company, we wanted to reward those who have accompanied us in our commitment to protect the environment.” To illustrate this statement, Monrabal stated that “we have saved more than 35 million plastic bottles thanks to the help of restaurants and families. If we add to this data the events in which we have helped take care of the planet, we would be talking about almost 40,000,000 bottles”

Commitment that cannot be postponed

For his part, Dionisio García, CEO of Global Omnium, highlighted Global Omnium’s commitment to the environment and the fight against water scarcity: “it is a very serious problem, it is a problem that we cannot stop facing and we have to act. Plastic is sometimes demonized and it is true that there are uses that are essential, but using it when it is not necessary is nonsense”.

Likewise, Dioniso García has referred to water consumption in the city: “In Valencia, water is a perfectly treated and healthy resource, and the taste, due to its characteristics, is not liked by everyone, so everything that can be done for it to be more attractive and for people to consume it, it has to be welcome”, in reference to Tuawa’s filtering solutions.

Finally, he pointed out that “for Global Omnium it is a challenge and a source of pride to sponsor these awards, a reflection of our real and tangible commitment to the planet and to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)”, he concluded.

The regional secretary for Tourism, Francesc Colomer, has closed the awards ceremony, highlighting the need for all of us to take action in defense of the planet, “in the construction of a new world in which new generations -tions can teach us a lot” using Rototom as an example of events, and has defined Quique Dacosta as “cook of beauty”.
