The Investigative Court number 1 of Jaén has agreed this Tuesday to enter into provisional prison with notice and without bail of the woman detained for the death of her six-year-old son in a home in the capital of Jaén.

The woman, whose statement was taken at the hospital, is being investigated for the crime of murder, as reported by the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA).

The 32-year-old woman will remain in police custody until doctors discharge her from the hospital where she is recovering from the wounds she sustained while trying to harm herself after the death of her son.

Meanwhile, around 300 people have observed a minute of silence this afternoon at the doors of Jaén City Hall to condemn the death of the six-year-old boy whose body was found dead yesterday in his home.

“Hopefully it will be the last minute of silence that I am forced to call,” said the mayor of Jaén, Agustín González, at the doors of the Town Hall, after the emotional and heartfelt minute of silence.

Members of all the political groups of the municipal Corporation, officials and residents of the capital participated in the event, visibly dismayed.

In addition, the City Council yesterday decreed two days of official mourning as a sign of mourning for the death of the six-year-old child.

As reported by the National Police, around 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning, another son of the woman, 17 years old, called 091 to report what happened.

When the agents arrived at the house – in the Merced neighborhood – they found the lifeless body of a 6-year-old boy and, next to him, his mother in very serious condition, for whom she was transferred to a health center in the city.
