The two majority groups that support the Valencian government will not present amendments to the Concordia law that they themselves presented to equalize the victims of the dictatorship with those of the republic and those of democracy. A regulation that the opposition wants to overturn because it is considered a whitewashing of the Franco regime and that has caused a great stir, with contrary positions even from the UN.
The PP and Vox, on the other hand, will present modifications to the other four laws that make up what they have called their “reformist agenda”, some aimed at influencing the objectives of the laws and others that are more technical in order to clarify some issues. and provide the regulations with greater legal certainty. Both parties are aware that some of the rules will end up in court, as the opposition has already announced it.
However, Vox has already announced this Monday – the day the deadline for submitting amendments to the text closes – that it has not proposed any changes to the most controversial rule. For his part, the PP spokesperson, Miguel Barrachina – who has assured that the proposed changes to the five laws are agreed between the two groups – has indicated that his group, in principle, will not request changes in the controversial regulations either, considering it ” flawless”.
“There is nothing that can be easily suppressed,” defended the Catalan Ombudsman, who argued that the law takes into account all victims of political violence without distinction. The Valencian president has also publicly defended the content of the norm.
In this context, it does not seem easy that this law can change in the parliamentary process since the amendments presented by the opposition have been articulated to precisely leave it without content and keep in force the law of historical memory of the Botànic that PP and Vox want to bury with their text .
