PP and Vox continue with firm steps in the development of their “reformist agenda.” Neither the response of the academic world to its educational law nor the objections of the UN and the Government of Spain to its Concord law have broken the will of the partners of the Valencian government to dismantle part of the legislative framework of the left and introduce a new narrative .

The amendments presented by both groups not only do not take on any of the criticisms but also “go deeper” into their original objectives. Thus, in the educational freedom law, the amendments presented are aimed, even more, at facilitating education in Spanish and guaranteeing, in the words of its promoters, the “freedom of choice for their parents.”

Among the proposals presented by PP and Vox, several stand out that respond, in part, to the claims of the Hablamos Español platform, whose ILP, by the way, the popular ones rejected. Thus, it is proposed that “in the access tests to Middle and Higher Grade training cycles, ESO Graduate, and in the tests to obtain the Baccalaureate degree, in non-linguistic subjects the students will have the right to take the exams and the evaluation tests, in Valencian or Spanish, depending on your choice.”

Along the same lines, the right to take exams in the chosen language is extended to Primary, Vocational Training and Adult Training.

There is also another significant change. In the PP and Vox bill, it was stated that in Primary, throughout the entire stage, “the area of ??Mathematics” would be taught “in the base language chosen by the student’s legal representatives.” Now, this article has been amended so that the area of ??Knowledge of the Natural, Social and Cultural Environment is also taught in the base language. In this way, the other language would be left for subjects such as Music, Plastic Education or Physical Education.

Precisely, in its harsh report on this law, the Valencian Language Academy pointed out that “it would seem more pertinent for the area of ??Knowledge of the Social and Natural Environment to be studied in Valencian, much more adjusted to the sociolinguistic and cultural reality, geography and toponymy, not Mathematics, which mainly uses a universal technical language.”

Yesterday, the PP ombudsman in Les Corts, Miguel Barrachina, defended that his amendments go precisely in the direction of “continuing to deepen the freedom of parents and the promotion of the Valencian language.” Regarding this last issue, the popular leader did not want to specify how the amendments will serve to promote the native language. However, he argued that given the decline in the use of Valencian during the Botànic years, PP and Vox are betting on formulas to promote and not impose this co-official language.

On the other hand, in the so-called Law of Concord, the groups have chosen not to propose any amendment to the initial text, understanding that the proposal presented that equates the victims of the dictatorship, the First Republic and democracy is “impeccable” and does not It has nothing that can be suppressed.

Yes, they have presented amendments to the law on regional television, although they have indicated that these are only of a technical nature. Vox, for its part, has proposed significant modifications to the Anti-Fraud Agency rule presented by the PP alone so that this agency sees its wage bill reduced by 30% and that the supervisory body depends directly on the Comptes y Sindicatura. not from Les Corts, as until now. The PP did not clarify yesterday whether it will assume these modifications.
