The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, explained that at the close of the PERTE call for the development of the electric and connected vehicle, approved last July, 13 major projects have been presented that are specified in 487 specific actions.
All of them are led by large groups of companies that bring together a total of 311, including all the major players in the sector that operate in Spain and 182 are SMEs. The total investment associated and mobilized by the 13 projects will be, at least, 12,000 million euros, which are destined to modernize and electrify the production lines and the entire supply chain.
The projects are distributed in more than half of the autonomous communities and to them are added the two gigafactories of electric batteries for the automotive industry that will be built in Sagunt (Valencian Community) and Navalmoral de la Mata (Extremadura).
The objective of the PERTE of the electric car is to create in Spain the necessary ecosystem for the development and manufacture of electric vehicles connected to the network and to turn Spain into the European Hub of electromobility. The development of this project foresees a total investment of more than 24,000 million euros in the 2021-2023 period, with a contribution from the public sector of 4,300 million euros and a private investment of 19,700 million euros.
